Lauki Aur Chane ki Dal

This Punjabi lauki chana dal curry is an easy and quick recipe and goes very well with roti or phulkas. I make this recipe quite often at home as it's a combination of gram lentils and bottle gourd (especially not liked by my daughter).This combination makes this recipe much tastier and I as a mother am happy watching my daughter relish it!

Lauki Aur Chane ki Dal
This Punjabi lauki chana dal curry is an easy and quick recipe and goes very well with roti or phulkas. Soak chana dal for nearly 4 hours or overnight. Peel, cut and chop bottle gourd into large medium pieces. Cut chop onions and tomatoes.

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add inion and saute till it turns golden in colour. Now add soaked chana dal and cook on low flame and roast till it turns pink and leaves oil in the sides.

Now add all the dry masala, bottle gourd and tomatoes and 1 cup water. Cooj on medium low flame covered stirring in between till the dal is all cooked and soft that it mashes well in-between your two fingers.

Now in a tadka pan add oil and heat. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, green chillies, chopped garlic and curry leaves. Pour it over the chana dal and lauki.

Serve with hot phulkas, roti or steamed rice.
