They can be made in any shapes, decorated with hands or there are special wooden moulds for them. If you like you can make design with bottom of a glass or use fork.

Ingredients

Prep time: 40-50 mins Bake tie: 20 mins
15 cookies
  • 1 cup (125 gm)all purpose flour (cold)
  • 1 cup (125 gm)semolina (cold)
  • 125 gmghee (softened)
  • 1/3 cupcold condensed milk
  • 2 tbspice cold water
  • Pinchsalt
  • Pinchcardamom and nutmeg powder
  • Filling:
  • Some walnuts (crushed)
  • Some almonds (crushed)
  • 1 cupdates paste
  • 1 tbspghee/ oil
  • Pinchcardamom and nutmeg powder

Steps

Prep time: 40-50 mins Bake tie: 20 mins
  1. 1

    Add cold flour and semolina in big mixing bowl and mix well. Add ghee and mix well with finger tips till a rough dough forms. Or simply use a chopper. Cover and refrigerate for at least 20 mins.

    Now remove from fridge and add remaining ingredients and mix well until a soft dough forms. Cover and keep aside.

    Now mix dates paste along with other ingredients well. Make tiny balls of about 1 tsp.
    Pre heat the oven to 200 degrees.

    Now make a big ball of the flour dough and dig a whole in it. Put the date ball into it and roll into a ball again. Do the same with the rest doughs.

    Make shape with the mould or use any method. Freeze for 5-7 mins. Keeping the doughs cold helps maintain their shape while baking. (punch the mould in flour first)

    (remove the extra dough on the sides)
    Now put the tray of cookies in the oven for 16-17 mins on medium rack on lower flame. Then on top flame for 3-4 mins. Remove and cool them on cooling rack.

    Top with powdered sugar and serve and enjoy with tea, coffee or just munch it away..☺️
