Ingredients

10-12 minutes
4-5 servings
  1. 1 cupmixed dal (lentils), soaked overnight
  2. 2 cupsloosely packed spinach, chopped finely
  3. 1/2 tspcumin seeds
  4. 1 tspred chili paste
  5. 1onion, chopped
  6. 1green chili, chopped
  7. as per tasteSalt
  8. 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  9. 1/2 tspgaram masala powder
  10. 1 tspcoriander-cumin powder
  11. 1/2 tspamchur powder
  12. pinchbaking soda
  13. 2-3 tbspoil

Steps

10-12 minutes
  1. 1

    Soak the lentils overnight or for 4-5 hours. Grind to a slightly coarse paste.

  2. 2

    Mix the rest of the ingredients (except oil) into a batter, which should neither be too thick or too thin.

    Heat a paniyaram chatti and grease well. Drop spoonful of the prepared batter and cook, covered, on a low flame till one side is well browned.

    Flip it over and cook the other side too, till done. Prepare similar paniyaram with the remaining batter. Drain on a kitchen towel.

    Serve them hot as a tea time snack or as an appetizer with tomato sauce or green chutney.
