Ingredients

45 minutes
4 persons
  • 1 cupChickpea
  • 1small onion
  • 3Garlic cloves
  • as per tasteGreen chili (optional)
  • 1/2 cupCoriander leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 cupparsley, chopped
  • 1 tspcoriander powder
  • 1 tspcumin powder
  • 1 tsppepper powder
  • to tastesalt
  • As neededBesan
  • 2 tbspWhite sesame seeds
  • 1/4 tspBaking soda
  • as neededOil for frying

Steps

45 minutes
  1. 1

    Wash and soak chickpeas for 8 hours. Drain the water completely.

    Transfer the chickpeas to food processor and pulse until chickpeas are coarse.

    Add in roughly chopped onion, garlic, parsley, coriander leaves, coriander powder, cumin powder, pepper powder, salt and green chili(If using). Pulse few times until very finely minced scraping down as necessary.

    Transfer the prepared mixture to a bowl. Refrigerate the mixture for 15-30 minutes.

    Heat oil for deep frying. Add in besan as needed to bind the mixture. Add in white sesame seeds, baking soda and mix well.

    Use a falafel scooper to shape the falafel or can be shaped with ice-cream scooper too. Dip the falafel with white sesame seeds and slide it into oil.

    Fry them on both sides until brown and crispy. Strain onto tissue paper.

    Serve hot and crispy Falafel with hummus and pita bread.
