Garlic Pepper Toast

I came up with this when I received a bottle of "Cielo" brand extra virgin olive oil as a present. I tried substituting olive oil for butter, and used salt and pepper as an accent.

Adjust the amount of salt to taste when making the garlic oil in Step 1. Since I used salt by the mill, the amount is approximate. It tastes better on the salty side. If you make more than 2 slices, just repeat Steps 1 & 2. Toast the tops well. Recipe by rie-tin

Ingredients

1 serving
  1. 1 sliceSliced pullman loaf (one loaf cut vertically into 6 slices)
  2. 2 tbsp★Extra virgin olive oil
  3. 1 clove★Garlic
  4. 1/4 tsp★Salt
  5. 1Black pepper

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Crush and mince 1 clove of garlic. Mix ★ on a flat plate. Cut the bread lengthwise into 4 equal pieces, and soak one side of each piece in the prepared olive oil.

  2. 2

Spread the remaining garlic from the oil mixture in Step 1 on top of the slices of bread, and generously sprinkle with salt and pepper. Put the bread in the toaster oven...

  3. 3

Toast the top of the bread well to finish. If the bottom starts to burn before they are toasted, lay a sheet of aluminium foil underneath. They'll turn out crispy and delicious.

  4. 4

I used "Cielo" Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This olive oil is great because it doesn't have the distinctively strong taste of olive oil.

  5. 5

"Luna Marie" made these thinly sliced breadsticks. They make a delicious dessert-like snack

  6. 6

I recommend "Luna Marie"'s recipe. They go well with salad too!
