First, rinse the black chickpeas and wheat berries, then soak them overnight.

In the morning, drain the water from the chickpeas and wheat. Don’t throw away this water—you can drink it as it’s healthy. Now, cook the wheat and chickpeas in a pressure cooker for 4-5 whistles until soft.

Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida, then sauté the chopped onions and green chilies. Add the ginger-garlic paste. When the onions turn light golden brown, add the chopped tomato and stir.

Add all the spices: turmeric, red chili powder, and salt to taste. Mix well. Add the boiled chickpeas and wheat, then stir-fry to combine. Add the roasted cumin powder and dried mango powder or chaat masala.

On low heat, stir-fry the chickpeas and wheat with the spices for 1-2 minutes. Turn off the heat and mix in the chopped cilantro.
