How better to delight your friends and family than with a burst of cocoa, chocolate, and almonds?

First, melt the chocolate and butter separately. Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Add the coarsely chopped almonds to the melted chocolate (off the heat).

In a bowl, combine the butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and previously beaten egg yolks. Mix using a hand mixer. Then add the chocolate and almond mixture, baking powder, and sifted flour. Mix until well combined.

Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and gently fold them into the batter. Pour the smooth, creamy batter into a greased and floured 10-inch (25 cm) cake pan. Smooth the top and bake on the middle rack for 50-60 minutes at 350°F (180°C). Let cool, slice, and enjoy!
