Firstly soak rice in water for 30 minutes. And saffron in warm milk separately.

Rinse the rice and drain the water. Add rice to a mixer and grind to a powder.

Boil milk in a heavy bottom pan and once the milk is boiled reduce the flame to medium-low and add rice powder. Keep stirring occasionally for 10-15 minutes until the rice gets completely cooked.

Now add saffron, sugar, cardamom powder and mix well. Cook phirni until thickens and switch off the flame.

Cool to room temperature and refrigerate for 2-3 hours.

Serve chilled phirni with chopped almonds and cashew.
