Matar ka Nimona (Green Peas Curry)
A UP style “Matar Nimona “ ,Indian curry made with green peas,potatoes,lentils dumplings and spices. Try this winter delicacy with rice or Roti/paratha.
Cooking Instructions

First boil 2 cups of green peas & keep them aside.

In a grinder, make a paste of coriander leaves, 1 inch ginger piece,1/2 cups green peas and 2 green chillies. Keep this paste aside.

After that in a pan heat mustard oil till smoking point fry potatoes and dal badi if you are using. Fry and take them out.

Next in hot oil add 1tsp cumin seeds, a pinch of asafoetida (hing) and whole red chillies. Allow the cumin to crackle

Add green coriander paste and fry for 2-3 minutes, then add tomatoes.

Cook tomatoes till these are mushy and then add ¼ teaspoon turmeric, red chilli powder. Add peas, mix them well with tomato masala and add about 2 cups of water. Mix it

Now, add potatoes sliced, fried badi, salt to taste, garam masala cook for few minutes on slow heat.

Matar ka nimona is ready to enjoy, serve this delicious peas curry with rice, paratha or Roti.

We love curry in our house, so I'm always making different variations. I like the keema curry served at Indian restaurants, so I thought I'd try making it myself.I used whole cumin seeds, since they have a stronger fragrance and are more authentically Indian than cumin powder.It's quite a chore to chop up 3 onions, so I use a food processor to save time and effort.
