Ingredients

20 - 25 minutes
4 servings
  1. 200 gramfresh button mushrooms
  2. 1medium onion,
  3. 1 medium tomato,
  4. 2-3 green chilli
  5. 180 gramsboiled green peas
  6. Marination
  7. 1/4 tspturmeric,
  8. 1/4 tsp garam masala,
  9. 1/2 tsp salt,
  10. 1/2 tsp crushed kasuri methi,
  11. 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  12. 1/2 tspginger garlic paste
  13. 3 tbspfresh whisked curd
  14. For gravy / curry
  15. 1 bay leaf,
  16. 1 cinnamon,
  17. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds,
  18. 1 tbsp poppy seeds,
  19. 1/2 tsp sugar
  20. 2garlic cloves
  21. 1/4 tspred chilli powder,
  22. 1/2 tbsp coriander powder,
  23. as per tatse salt
  24. 1/2 tsp turmeric
  25. 1 cupwater + little more as per gravy consistency

Steps

20 - 25 minutes
  1. 1

    Wash mushroom very nicely and chop into desired pieces.

    Soak mushrooms into boiling water for 2-3 minutes so that mushroom gets soft and strain the excess water.

    Marinade mushrooms in curd + all mentioned spices and marinade for 15 - 20 minutes.

    Assemble all other ingredients, soak poppy seeds for 2 hours.

    Make a paste of chopped tomatoes + soaked poppy seeds + green chilli + garlic.

  6. 6

    In pan add cumin seeds + cinnamon + bay leaf, let cumin splutter nicely, then add chopped onion, sauté for 2 minutes till onion turns golden brown.
    Then add all spices, mix well by adding 3 tbsp water and fry spices till turns aromatic or spices leaves oil.

    Now add tomato paste and cook / fry for 3-4 minutes till water dries to some extent.

    Add marinaded mushrooms + boiled green peas, mix well and sauté for 3 - 4 minutes.

    Now add any remaining curd from the marinated bowl + 1 cup water + sugar and give a nice boil. Simmer for 3-4 minutes under cover under medium flame.

    Now add chopped coriander leaves, mix well and simmer for 2 minutes and then keep in stand by mode for 2-3 minutes.

    Now Matar Mushroom is ready to serve.
