Ingredients

4 servings
  • 1/4Kabocha squash
  • 3bowlfuls Plain cooked rice
  • 3 sliceBacon
  • 1/2 smallOnion
  • 400 mlMilk
  • 1Soup stock cube
  • 1/2 tspSalt
  • 1 pinchBlack pepper
  • 1Pizza cheese
  • 1Vegetable oil

Steps

    Cut the squash into 5mm chunks. Wrap in plastic wrap and microwave for 2~3 minutes.

    Cut the bacon into 1cm strips. Roughly mince the onion

    Heat oil in a high walled pan. Add the bacon and onion. When they have cooked a bit, add the milk and bring to a simmer. Add the soup stock cube.

    When the soup stock cube has fully dissolved, add the rice and mix well. Season with salt and black pepper. Add the squash.

    If it doesn't seem like there is enough liquid, adjust the milk accordingly. Cook to your desired thickness. Add a pinch of cheese and mix.

    Transfer the mixture into a gratin plate (or shallow casserole dish) and sprinkle the top with cheese. Put this into an oven and cook until the cheese is melted well and forms a golden brown crust.
