Fruit Payasam

This is a traditional payasam of Tamilnadu and Kerala. We mix mango, banana and jackfruit. We make with moong dal and rice. But in hyderabad I didnot get jackfruit so used only mango and banana. On occassion of Tamil New Year I made this payasam. Its perfect for Ramadan also. We get all tastes of these fruits which make payasam very tasty. Serve it chilled.

Soak rice for 1 hour. Add ghee in kadai and add moong dal and saute for 5 min then transfer to a bowl. Slice mangoes and banana. Take 1tbs ghee in same kadai and add both banana and mango saute for 3 to 4 min. Take out in a bowl and let it cool. Take 3 cups water in kada and add jaggery

Grind both rice and moong dal to fine paste. Add to kadai. Keep on stirring to avoid any lumps. Keep the flame low. Grind half the portion of fruits to a paste. Transfer to the kadai. Add remaining mango slices and banana too to kadai and mix well. Add cardamom powder.

Add grated coconut. Mix and cook for few minutes and switch off the flame.
