Steamed Rava modak
Steps
- 1
In a pan add water, milk, salt and ghee.
Once water is boiled, add semolina. Keep mixing continuously until the dough-like texture is formed. Switch off the flame.
Cover and keep aside for only 5 minutes. - 2
In a pan, add coconut, jaggery, water and ghee and cook until the jaggery is melted completely.
Add cardamom powder and let the mixture cool. - 3
Now take the mixture in another plate and start kneading the dough until you get a smooth and soft dough.
Divide the dough into small portions and start rolling each portion into a smooth ball. - 4
Take one ball and use your fingers to flatten the ball into a bowl or a disc.
Now using your index finger, middle finger and thumb, pinch the sides to get petals 11 times.
Place a teaspoon of mixture in the centre and bring all the petals into the centre to form the modak shape. - 5
Place water in a idli steamer.
Once it is hot, place the modaks on the steaming plate and steam for 5-7 minutes.
Once cooled, share with Bappa and your loved ones 😋
