Ingredients

20 minutes
2 servings
  1. 250 gmsmedium size prawns
  2. For marination:
  3. 1/4th tsp black pepper powder
  4. 2 tspcornflour
  5. 1 tspsoy sauce
  6. 1 tspoil
  7. 1/4th tsp salt
  8. Others:
  9. 1onion cubed and petals disintegrated
  10. 1/2capsicum deseeded and cubed
  11. 2green chillies chopped
  12. 2-3green chillies slit
  13. 5-6garlic cloves minced
  14. 1/2 tspginger grated
  15. For sauce:
  16. 1 tbsphot and sweet tomato chilli sauce
  17. 1 tbspchilli sauce
  18. 1 tspsoy sauce
  19. 1.5 tspvinegar
  20. 1/4th tsp ajinomoto
  21. 1/2 tspblack pepper powder
  22. 3 tbspvegetable oil
  23. as per tastesalt and 1/4 th tsp sugar
  24. 1 tbspcoriander or spring onion chopped for garnishing

Steps

    Devein and clean the prawns.Smear salt,soy sauce,black pepper powder,1 tsp oil and cornflour on the prawns and set aside for 10 minutes.Heat oil in a pan and fry the prawns lightly on medium heat flipping gently to and fro for 3 minutes. Do not overcook the prawns as they tend to become hard and rubbery. The cornflour gives the prawns a crispy coating while they are soft inside.Set aside on an absorbent kitchen tissue.

    To make Chilli Garlic Prawns:
    Clean the pan and add 2 tbsp more oil.Saute garlic and ginger until fragrant. Add chopped and slit chillies,capsicum and onion cubes.Saute on high flame for 2-3 minutes until capsicum and onions are partially cooked,but they should not lose their crunch. Add chilli sauce,tomato sauce,soy sauce,vinegar,pepper,salt and sugar.Add 2 tbsp water and toss.Add the fried prawns.

    Add ajinomoto and toss the prawns in the sauce to combine all.Garnish with chopped coriander or spring onion and serve crispy Chilli Garlic Prawns as an appetizer or as a side with noodles or fried rice.
