No rice cookers or air fryers needed. Indonesian and Persian cuisines, simple and beautiful. Here are both weekday and festive recipes.

INDONESIAN. Mix cold water or coconut milk with turmeric, add dry white basmati rice and bouillion cube, add sesame oil, stir once, bring to hard boil. Turn off, put lid on, rest 55 minutes till cold. Brown basmati rice needs to rest 30 minutes longer. Fluff and serve.

PERSIAN. Rinse rice, drain. Sautee shallot, add rice, sautee 5 minutes. Grind 1/2 Tsp salt, saffron, bloom in 2 Tbs boiling water, stand 5 minutes. Add saffron, 2 cups boiling water or bouillion, stir, bring to boil, cover, turn heat off and let sit an hour. Fluff and serve.
