Ingredients

1 hour (plus overnight soaking)
4 people
  • 1.5 cupsrice
  • 1.75 cupscoconut milk (I only had cream so I mixed 1 cup with 3/4 cup warm water)
  • 1 tspyeast
  • 1/4 tspcardamom powder
  • 1 cupsugar

Steps

1 hour (plus overnight soaking)
  1. 1

    Wash rice 3 times and soak overnight. I used pishori rice

  2. 2

    Drain the rice completely then blend with coconut milk and yeast

  3. 3

    Place mixture in bowl, cover with a cloth and Place in a warm area (on top of fridge) for 1 hour

  4. 4

    Add in the sugar and cardamom powder and mix till well incorporated

  5. 5

    Warm up the vitumbua pan on and place a few drops of oil in each hole

  6. 6

    Pour the mixture halfway through the holes and cook on low heat (patience is key to avoid burning)

  7. 7

    When once side is cooked, flip over and Cook the other side. Repeat process till you finish cooking
