Get it? Nothing pleases me more about growing my own herbs than to be able to harvest and put them up for the winter.
But this thyme is the first time I ever tried to harvest it when I normally just pick what I want and use it fresh. Really simple but oh so tedious! All those stems! and you can't get all of them so I just got the thick ones out and crumbled the rest of it. Doing thyme in Carolina 🤪

Cut the thyme off the base of the plant, rinse thoroughly and shake excess water off and air dry

Dry it for as long as it takes to become dried (about a month or so) I keep it in a paper bag so I won't lose any

When it's dry enough, start to crumble it by rubbing it in between your hands and letting it fall into a large pan

Keep doing this and picking the stems out as you go (you won't get all of them) but try to get most of them, especially the thicker stems and REPEAT

When you get the result you want...place it in some jars with the date on it and your done!
