Wash the spiny gourd two-three times and cut it into slices.

Heat 3-4 table spoons of regular oil in a pan and add curry leaves, cumin seeds, carom seeds, asafoetida. After it heats up a bit, add turmeric, chili powder, and salt to taste.

Now cover the pan with a lid, pour some water on the lid and let it simmer for fifteen to twenty minutes.

Sprinkle coriander leaves and coriander-cumin powder on this preparation and it is ready to be served with puri, paratha or roti.
