Thousand Island Slaw Thousand Island Slaw
This is an easy creamy slaw recipe that goes well with various American-style BBQs, and since we're in high BBQ and grilling season, I thought it a good time to share.I call it a Thousand Island Slaw because the flavors mimic that sweet tangy savory creamy flavor of Thousand Island dressing. It's my eldest daughter's favorite slaw, which she requests whenever we make fried or roasted chicken or barbecue - she loves to snack on leftovers later in the day.And I am all about whatever gets my family happily munching on raw veg.Add some celery seeds (just about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoonful), and it's great on a Reuben, too. When you're selecting heads of cabbage, always check for tightly packed leaves and high density of water content. A good way to check for the latter is to pick up a few of the same size and select the one that's heaviest for that size. This means the cabbage is fresh and still has a lot of its original water content. x -

Tangerine Garlic Mustard Salad dressing Tangerine Garlic Mustard Salad dressing
My hubby and I love to eat salads. But I never keep any salad dressing from the store. Firstly, I don’t use salad dressing from the store. Secondly, it’s too oily and also not really in my taste. Even we go eat out, whenever I order salad, the salad dressing will always on the side, and I will never pour or use it on my salad. So the question is, what usually I use to dress up my homemade salads at home? Usually I just simply using squeezing lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Or sometimes I am using balsamic vinegar, or I made my own salad dressing. Today I am going to share my favorite citrus salad dressing using tangerines juice. And here is the recipe. Nia Hiura -

Sesame Dressing Sesame Dressing
This is a make-ahead, keep in stock version of the dressing used in, Cabbage and Corn Salad. I got a request for a bigger amount version, so here it is.You can keep this in the refrigerator for about a week. Please use it up within that time if possible.I was able to keep it without it splitting for more than a week. (I just kept it in an ordinary container covered with plastic wrap.) For 2 servings x 5 times (10 servings). Recipe by Kokoa77 cookpad.japan -
Creamy Honey Mustard Dressing Creamy Honey Mustard Dressing
I am big on salads and maybe even bigger on homemade dressings. And it's every bit as much about flavor as health. Well, maybe slightly more...There's something about a homemade dressing made with a few thoughtfully combined ingredients, and without the texture and flavor muck that results from a certain industrial cocktail of gums and stabilizers, that allows the ingredients of your salad to sing. And it really will get you looking forward to eating raw veg, which is so good for your bod.(I do sometimes use a teeny, tiny bit of xanthan gum to emulsify, but not enough to affect the experience of the dressing. A topic for another post, however...)This Creamy Honey Mustard Dressing is a favorite in our house, and even my mustard hating Firstborn likes it. :) x
