I harvested shiso leaves from my garden. I thought up this recipe for an easy lunch.

Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 5 sliceThinly sliced pork belly
  2. 1enough for 10 rolls Shiso leaves
  3. 1Katakuriko
  4. 1Vegetable oil for pan frying
  5. 1 tbsp〇Soy sauce
  6. 1 tsp〇Sugar
  7. 1 tsp〇Mirin
  8. 3 tbsp〇Sake

Steps

  1. 1

    Cut the pork belly slices in half. Combine the ingredients marked with an 〇 and set aside.

    If the shiso leaves are small, use 2, if they're big, cut in half. Place on a slice of pork belly, leaving a gap on the far side.

    Roll up tightly, tugging hard at the end. Line up on a plate with the seams down. The rolls will be cooked with the seam side down first!

    Coat the rolls with katakuriko. Heat oil in a pan and start cooking the rolls over low-medium heat. Brown all sides, then turn off the heat and add the 〇 ingredients. Turn the heat back on, simmer to reduce the sauce and coat the rolls. It's done!
