Italian Basil or great Basil is a tender herb used in many Cuisines all over the World.
Basil derived it's name from a Greek word 'basileus' meaning King because it has a royal sweet fragrance. Italian Basil is sweet and Tulsi has a strong flavour. That's the key difference between them two and are in no way similar to each other.
Similarly Pesto is an Italian recipe and therefore only Basil should be used in that for that authentic taste and flavour.

This recipe here is that of simple and refreshing Basil Tea with just a few drops of Lemon juice. The sweet fragrance of it is refreshingly awesome. It gives us immense joy and pleasure while sipping it slowly. Basil is a great Herb and enhances any dish when used in it. This Tea is absolutely an excellent option too.
Basil is sweet and has a slightly spicy or pungent flavour as well and therefore is used in many medicinal preparations too because of many Antioxidants, Vitamins and Minerals present in it. It's also used in essential Oils as well.
Basil helps to deal with depression and has many detoxifying properties. It fights the inflammations in the body. Helps in Diabetes management and offers amazing skin benefits. It also aids in digestion. All in all this Basil and Lemon Tea or Concoction works wonders for the body. Lemon can be totally skipped as well.

  2. 2

After that squeeze some lemon juice into it. Do not add more of it. Otherwise it's gonna be lemon tea only instead of basil lemon tea. It's only for extra flavour. You don't wanna miss that subtle basil flavour and aroma. So be careful about it.

That's it. Let it steep for about 2-3 minutes. And it's perfectly done. Happy Sipping!

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
