FILLING AND TOPPING
In a bowl, mix the butter with the flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Add the walnuts and mix well. Set aside. - 2
CAKE BATTER
In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In another bowl, beat the butter with the sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Mix in the vanilla. Alternately add the flour mixture and the sour cream (or the milk and cream mixture), beating after each addition. - 3
Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C).
Grease a loaf pan with butter or spray with nonstick vegetable or butter-flavored spray. Pour in half of the batter and spread evenly. - 4
Sprinkle half of the walnut filling mixture over the batter.
Add the remaining batter and spread evenly.
Top with the rest of the walnut mixture.
Bake for about 44 minutes.
