Make a lengthwise cut in each chikuwa and insert thinly sliced cheese into the cut.

For 8 chikuwa, stack 3 slices of cheese and cut into 8 equal parts for the perfect size.

Cut the cheese-stuffed chikuwa into 4 pieces each.

In a bowl, mix the tempura batter mix and water according to the package instructions, then add the aonori and mix again. It's delicious even without the aonori!

Coat the cheese-stuffed chikuwa pieces in the batter from step 4 and fry them. Once the batter is crispy, they're ready to eat!
