Easy Pressure Cooker Red Wine Braised Spare Ribs

Ready in just 15 minutes with a pressure cooker! This recipe makes incredibly tender ribs with ease. The combination of ketchup and red wine adds a rich flavor, perfect for entertaining.
The origin of this recipe
Originally, my mother made this dish using a regular pot. I adapted it for the pressure cooker, which simplifies the process and brings out the sweetness of the onions without sautéing them. My mother often made this when guests came over, which shows her confidence in the dish. It's a taste I loved from my mother's kitchen.

Steps

  1. 1

Heat a small amount of oil in a frying pan and sear the surface of the spare ribs to lock in the flavor. (If using a non-stick pan, you can skip the oil)

  2. 2

Place the seared spare ribs, onion wedges, and all ★ ingredients into the pressure cooker. Close the lid and heat on high. Once it boils and the weight starts to jiggle, reduce to low heat.

  3. 3

Simmer on low heat for 15 minutes, ensuring the weight continues to jiggle. Turn off the heat and let it depressurize naturally.

  4. 4

The spare ribs should now be fall-off-the-bone tender. Serve on a plate and sprinkle with parsley if desired.
