The origin of this recipe
I adapted a 'Cocoa Cookie' recipe from a book my child borrowed from the library, 'Magic Microwave Snacks for Elementary School Students', and added chocolate chips.
Steps
- 1
Put all ingredients except vegetable oil and chocolate chips into a plastic bag, inflate it with air, seal it, and shake it up and down to mix.
- 2
Add the vegetable oil and knead the mixture by squeezing the bag.
- 3
Once it comes together, take it out of the bag, roll it into balls, and gently flatten them.
- 4
Place chocolate chips on top and arrange them in a radial pattern on parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- 5
Microwave uncovered at 600W for 2 minutes. (For 500W, microwave for 2 minutes and 20 seconds.)
- 6
Let them sit until they harden, then they're ready.
- 7
Be careful when they're warm because the chocolate chips will be melted! Freshly baked cookies are soft, but they will harden as they cool.

Spain commented, 'I was surprised at how easy and quick this was! The flavor is amazing with brown sugar. Thank you.' Brown sugar is a great option too.
- 9
Satotan Yukitan commented, 'Easy and crispy! It was delicious even with just 1.5 tablespoons of sugar.' So 1.5 tablespoons of sugar works too.
- 10
HBD✻Aqua commented, 'I didn't have enough flour, so I used tempura flour. It was super easy!' So tempura flour works too (haha).
- 11
Moo-chan N commented, 'I used rice flour, kinako, and olive oil! Delicious and easy!' Rice flour, olive oil, and kinako are great options too.
- 12
*Yuama* commented, 'It was easy and delicious! I used tempura flour with brown sugar and kinako.' Tempura flour alone is fine too.
- 13
*Yuama* commented, 'I used rice flour, brown sugar, milk cocoa, and olive oil. It was hard to bring together, so I added 1 tablespoon of milk and made heart shapes.'
- 14
Orugo commented, 'I had time, so I used a toaster for 7 minutes! It was crispier than the microwave.' 7 minutes in a toaster is a good option too.
- 15
Rikumama♡ commented, 'It was delicious in 1 minute and 40 seconds.' Use this as a time reference♡
- 16
Pinocchi commented, 'I used matcha flavor, so I added more sugar. It's easy and nice.' Matcha is a good option too.

Due to frequent questions about the dough not coming together and burning, I've added solutions to the recipe for your reference.
- 18
For those having trouble with the dough not coming together
This dough tends to be 'crumbly' and will fall apart when pressed.
- 19
Press it firmly to shape it. If it still doesn't come together, try adding a little more oil.
- 20
Be careful not to add too much oil, as it can cause burning.
- 21
For those having trouble with burning
Try reducing the microwave time slightly.
In my home, 2 minutes works fine... - 22
If it burns at around 1 minute and 40 seconds, try 1 minute and 30 seconds...
- 23
Orugo used coconut oil and it burned, but it was fine once shaped. If you're having trouble with burning, use this as a reference.
