Our Family’s Sukiyaki Sauce – Sweet Style

るるおか

This is our family’s go-to sweet sukiyaki sauce. The sweet sauce coats the meat and udon, making it a big hit with the kids!
Recipe background:
I started making this because buying pre-made sauce every time felt wasteful. I’ve tweaked it over time to suit my love for sweeter sauces, and this is now our family’s favorite version.

Steps

  1. 1

Add the sake, mirin, and sugar to a pot. Heat over low to medium heat, stirring constantly to dissolve the sugar.

  2. 2

Once it comes to a boil, add the soy sauce. Bring it to a boil again, then turn off the heat.
Tip: Don’t boil for too long or the flavor will become too strong.
