Ingredients

Serves 2 servings
  1. 1/4 headcabbage (about 300g or 10.5 oz)
  2. 5.3 ozground pork (150g)
  3. Pinchsalt
  4. Soy sauce and prepared mustard, to taste
  5. a
  6. 2 teaspoonsoyster sauce
  7. 1 teaspoonsoy sauce
  8. 1 teaspoonsake (or dry sherry)
  9. 2 teaspoonstoasted sesame oil
  10. 1 1/4-inch (3cm) piece ginger (grated or from a tube)
  11. 2 teaspoonscornstarch

Steps

    Separate the cabbage leaves from the core. Finely chop the core and thinly slice the leaves. Sprinkle salt over the shredded cabbage leaves and gently massage them.

    In a bowl, combine the ground pork and all ingredients labeled 'A.' Mix well until sticky, then add the chopped cabbage core and mix thoroughly.

    Shape the mixture from step 2 into bite-sized balls. Generously coat each ball with the shredded cabbage leaves, then reshape into balls.

    Line a microwave-safe dish with any leftover shredded cabbage, place the cabbage-coated meatballs on top, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave at 600W for 5 minutes.

    Serve on a plate and add soy sauce or prepared mustard to taste.
