Egyptian Feteer Meshaltet

Egyptian Feteer Meshaltet
Steps
- 1
Combine all the ingredients and knead with water until the dough comes together. Place the dough in an oiled bowl and let it rest for 1 hour.
- 2
Divide the dough into 8 balls, coat them with oil, and let them rest for another hour.
- 3
Roll out each dough ball, using oil on the counter to help with rolling. Brush the surface with melted butter or ghee until the dough becomes thin and almost transparent.
- 4
Fold the dough like an envelope and set aside. Repeat this process for four balls. The key step is to use plenty of butter or ghee. Place the first ball inside the second, the second inside the third, and so on until you have four stacked. Shape into a ball and place in a greased baking pan.
- 5
Let the feteer rest for 1 hour, then bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) until golden on the bottom. Turn on the broiler to brown the top.
- 6
Remove from the oven, cover with plastic wrap and a towel, and let it rest for 1 hour before serving with honey and cheese.
- 7
You can freeze the feteer for later use. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
