Paddington Bear Martini Sour

‘A polite, little bear from Darkest Peru found his way to London’s Paddington Station. With only his hat and old, battered suitcase in tow (with a glass jar of marmalade tucked away inside), the Brown family takes him in and his adventures begin. This marmalade sandwich eating bear became known as Paddington as his original name in bear language was too hard for a human to pronounce.’

Paddington has been dearly loved by our nation since he arrived in 1958. A Paddington Bear was the first item passed through to the French side when the channel tunnel was linked in 1994. During Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee festivities, 22,000 people lined the Mall and millions of viewers worldwide watched our dear queen share afternoon tea in Buckingham Palace with our most lovable bear. President Volodymyr Zelensky is the voice of our beloved bear in the Ukraine.

Pisco is technically an unaged brandy from Paddington’s home, Peru, made from the distillation of recently fermented Peruvian grape musts and juices. It is similar to Grappa (also made from grapes) but has similar herbal, earthy flavours like tequila.

In the 15th century, Britain began importing luxurious oranges from Spain and Portugal. Seville oranges are bitter but have an aromatic rind that’s great for making preserves. Frank Cooper’s Vintage Oxford marmalade is inspired by the original Sarah Jane Cooper’s 1874 recipe using dark, seriously intense Seville oranges. Perfect to make this luncheon aperitif. #GlobalApron
