Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 oz (100 grams)shredded cabbage
  • 1 tablespoonpotato starch
  • 1 3/4 oz (50 grams)onion
  • 7 oz (200 grams)ground pork
  • 1/2 teaspoonsalt (for mixture A)
  • 1 teaspoonsake (for mixture A)
  • 1 teaspoongrated ginger (for mixture A)

Steps

  1. 1

    Toss the shredded cabbage with the potato starch until evenly coated.

  2. 2

    In a bowl, combine the ground pork and all ingredients marked as mixture A. Mix until the mixture becomes sticky.

  3. 3

    Finely chop the onion and add it to the pork mixture. Mix well.

  4. 4

    Shape the meat mixture from step 3 into bite-sized balls. Wrap each ball with the cabbage from step 1, gently pressing to coat.

  5. 5

    Arrange the cabbage shumai on a microwave-safe plate, leaving space between each. Loosely cover with plastic wrap and microwave at 600W for 4 minutes.
