Soup - a primary liquid form is prepared in combination of vegetables, meat, noodles etc. The word soup comes from French word 'Soupe'. Soup is said to be as old as the history of cooking. Piping hot soups are cozy, healthy, filling and warming, especially in cold and rainy days.
Water chestnut is a grass like sedge, native to Asia, tropical Africa and Oceania. It is grown in many countries for their edible corms. The water chestnut is not a nut at all but an aquatic vegetable that grows in marshes, under water in the mud. The small round corms have a crisp, white flesh that can be eaten raw, boiled or grilled and in many other dishes. Water chestnut is a popular ingredient in many Chinese dishes. Water chestnut flour is also used in many dishes. Though water chestnut used in many Chinese dishes . Water chestnut flour is also used in many dishes. Though water chestnut has 74% water, they are great source of fiber, potassium, manganese, copper, vitamin B6, antioxidants and riboflavin. Most of their calories come from carbs.

Ingredients

20 minutes
2 persons
  • 8water chestnuts / shingada
  • 1small potato
  • 1small onion
  • 4 clovesgarlic
  • 1 cupmilk
  • 1 tspoilive oil
  • 1 tspblack pepper powder
  • 1 tsporegano
  • 1 tspbasil
  • Salt to taste

Steps

20 minutes
  1. 1

    Peel and chop all fresh ingredients.

    Heat pressure cooker and add oil. Once oil becomes hot, add garlic and onion and sauté for a while. Further add chopped potato and water chestnut, sauté for a while and then add one cup of water.

    Pressure cook them for four whistles.Open the pressure cooker when steam is realesed, blend it smooth.

    Further add milk and blend again. You can add more water or milk to get your desired consistency. Pass through strainer to get a smooth puree.

    Add all herbs/seasoning and salt and boil for five minutes.

    Sprinkle your desired seeds or any herbs and serve hot.
