Refried Beans from Scratch

Clean your beans of rocks, debris and bad and broken beans. Rinse very well. Put your clean beans in a pot of choice and cover with water and bring to a light boil, then remove from heat and set aside for 30 to 45 minutes.

Discard water and refill pot with clean water, at least 3 inches above beans (better more than not enough). Add half onion, garlic and bacon and cook beans on medium/low boil (add desired amount salt after 30 minutes of cooking).

Cook until tender (beans should be soft and creamy when squashed between 2 fingers). Remove from heat when fully cooked. Let it sit for about 30 minutes.

Melt 3 Tbsp bacon grease in desired skillet. Add chopped onions (optional) until translucent, then with a slotted spoon add your beans, while on a low sizzle, mix 3/4 tsp tomato bouillon with chicken flavor in 1/2 cup of bean soup and add to sizzling beans, mash well with mashed and stir, your beans are ready, enjoy.
