Steamed fish is a staple in my family because the sweet, tender fish blends beautifully with ingredients like tangerine peel, lime leaves, and ginger, creating a unique aroma. This time, I’ve added cordyceps, cloves, goji berries, lotus seeds, and ginger—ingredients known for promoting restful sleep.

Steamed fish is a staple in my family because the sweet, tender fish blends beautifully with ingredients like tangerine peel, lime leaves, and ginger, creating a unique aroma. This time, I’ve added cordyceps, cloves, goji berries, lotus seeds, and ginger—ingredients known for promoting restful sleep.

Soak all dried ingredients in hot water until softened. Thinly slice the carrot and ginger. Rinse the fish with vinegar to remove any fishy smell, then pat dry. Mix the marinade ingredients together and rub evenly over the fish. Arrange the prepared ingredients on and inside the fish.

Evenly scatter the seeds and other toppings, placing the cordyceps on top. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of cooking oil over the fish. Place the fish in a steamer over high heat. Once it starts to boil, reduce to medium heat.

Steam the fish for about 20 minutes until cooked through. Transfer to a serving plate and sprinkle with cilantro and black pepper.
