Steps

Add some oil, add in curry leaves, asafoetida and let them splutter (in a pressure cooker)

Add in ginger garlic and green chillies. Stir for about 30 seconds

Add in onions. Stir until cooked / red goes away
- 4
Add in tomatoes. Cook until mushy
- 5
Add turmeric and salt. Add washed dal and rice. Stir for a few seconds.

Add 6 cups water and wait for 4 whistles on a pressure cooker.

Add coriander to garnish. In a separate pan temper ghee with cumin seeds and kasuri methi (dried fenugreek). Add the ghee then to the pot with the khichdi.
