Matcha Panna Cotta

Panna cotta is a popular dessert in Japan and on my most recent trip, I was lucky enough to enjoy this treat on several occasions. While the milk in the US will never compare to the rich and delicious flavor of Japanese milk, the vibrant flavor of high-quality ceremonial matcha can elevate American-made panna cotta to new heights. #may2026

Steps
- 1
Combine milk, cream, sugar into a pot and heat on low until sugar is fully dissolved and milk is about to simmer
- 2
While the milk is heating, combine water and matcha powder. Whisk until no matcha clumps remain, then add gelatin powder to matcha and mix
- 3
Once milk is heated, remove from heat and add vanilla and then the matcha gelatin mixture. Whisk until there are no matcha clumps (will take several minutes so keep whisking).
- 4
When no match clumps remain, pour mixture into 3 small bowls or ramekins, cover with saran wrap and chill in fridge for at least 1 hour.
- 5
When panna cotta is chilled and set, top with sliced strawberries and enjoy!
