Steps
- 1
First, wash the yellow moong dal and soak it for 30 minutes. Add salt, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida, and oil. Cook on medium heat until 3 whistles in a pressure cooker.
- 2
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Add black peppercorns. Once they are roasted, add the chopped onion and sauté lightly. Add the chopped tomato and cook until soft.
- 3
Add chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, slit green chilies, and salt. Sauté, then add the cooked moong dal.
- 4
Add hot water to thin out the dal as needed. Soak the urad dal for 2 hours, then grind it. Mix in finely chopped ginger, green chilies, and grated coconut.
- 5
Add salt and mix well. Heat oil and fry small fritters until golden brown.
- 6
Add the prepared bonda to the hot moong dal soup. Garnish with chopped cilantro.
- 7
