I've really been craving chick fil a but ngl it's kinda pricey now so I decided to make my own chicken sandwich for a cheaper price. It's tough out here man.
Steps
- 1
PREP THE CHICKEN FOR THE MARINADE - Slice your chicken breast open. Cover the chicken with a clear wrap. Use a meat tenderizer tool to slightly thin it out (not too thin, though. Just enough for you to comfortably bite). Afterwards, slice the chicken breasts in half to make your patties. Pictured below is the chicken I usually get for my recipes.
- 2
MARINADE - in a large bowl, add in your chicken. Pour in 1/2 cup of dill pickle juice. Sprinkle in onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and smoked paprika. Swish the chicken around to get it coated in the mixture. Cover with plastic wrap and leave it in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes.
- 3
DRAIN OUT MARINADE - after 10 minutes, pour the marinade out. Season the chicken once more with the same seasonings from before to ensure rich flavor. Set that aside.
- 4
COOK THE CHICKEN - on a skillet, add 1/2 tbsp of oil. Turn the heat on high. Once it's hot enough, place your chicken and cook for 6 minutes on each side. Around 5 minutes in, feel free to turn the heat down slightly to avoid burning the chicken. Once the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165 degrees F, take out and set on drying rack.
- 5
TOAST YOUR BUNS - uhhh...toast your buns :D
- 6
Assemble - once buns are toasted, assemble the sandwich! Add the lettuce, chicken, and cheese. For the sauce, I used store-bought chipotle mustard. Feel free to use whatever you'd like :)
- 7
Enjoy! Pair with chips or french fries. Truly up to you ;)
