Steps

5 minutes prep + 0 minutes cook
  1. 1

Fill small serving glasses halfway with ice cubes.

  2. 2

Pour about 2–3 tablespoons of arak into each glass.

  3. 3

Slowly add cold water to each glass; the drink will turn milky white as the anise oils mix with the water

  4. 4

Stir gently and adjust the water depending on how strong you prefer the drink.

  5. 5

Garnish with lemon slices or mint leaves if desired and serve immediately.

Tips

Always add the water after the arak (not the other way around) to achieve the classic cloudy “louche” effect and balanced flavor
