Ingredients

30 minutes
  • 500 grmince beef (12%)
  • 500 grmince chicken
  • 3.5 tspsalt
  • 2 tbspsugar/sweetener
  • 2 tbspwhite pepper
  • 2 tspchicken stock powder
  • 2 tspkuah baso stock powder (optional)
  • 4 tspbaking powder (2 if using baso flour)
  • 4 tspoil (I used Virgin Olive oil)
  • 2 tbspfried shallot
  • 3 tspfried garlic
  • 2 tspmince garlic
  • 8-10bird chilies mince with garlic n oil 1 optional
  • 70-80 grtapioca flour (and 32gr/ 1 sachet baso flour)
  • 100 mlice or cold water
  • 1egg
  • Big bowl with ice for later

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Food processor, both mince till really smooth with all dry ingredient(except flour and tepung baso and chilies if uou dont mind smooth chiliies)

    Add egg, oil and water (little by little depending on texture) when you are happy then

    Add tepung baso and flour till mixed- not too long when this is already mixed

  4. 4

    Make one to try.

    Put in fridge if you have tine for about 30 minutes

  6. 6

    Boil water and put a bit of oil. and turn it off
    Start making the baso and put them in the water (still don't turn it on). Keep doing till all balls are made.

  7. 7

    Then turn on the stove in medium low. Cook it till all is floating.

  8. 8

    Prepare a big bowl with cold water or ice. Put the floating balls in the ice to make it more bouncy. Done! It's ready to be mixed with soup or put in the freezer.

Dishes such as Nasi goreng and rendang, transport me 7000 miles back to my home in Jakarta.Arriving in UK, I felt lost. Finding foods that I missed could be quite a challenge.
