Why buy expensive frozen sheets when you can make hygienic, crispy, and perfect samosa wrappers at home? In this video, I share the secret "stacking method" to make 4-5 sheets at once! You can make a big batch and freeze them for the entire month of Ramadan.
Steps
- 1
Dough Preparation (0:22): The video begins by demonstrating how to prepare a soft dough using all-purpose flour, salt, oil, and water. The dough is then left to rest for an hour (0:50-1:12).
Layering Technique (1:20): Small equal-sized balls are rolled out into thin, round puris. These are then stacked, with oil and dry flour dusted between each layer to prevent sticking and ensure easy separation (1:42-2:15). - 2
Cooking the Sheets (2:37): The stacked sheets are lightly cooked on a hot griddle over medium heat, ensuring they are cooked just enough to be peeled apart without browning (2:49-3:27).
Cutting and Storage (4:11): Once cooked, the sheets are cut into desired shapes for samosas or spring rolls (4:22-5:04). The video also demonstrates how to store them in zip-lock bags or by wrapping them tightly in plastic wrap to freeze (5:15-5:40). - 3
Thawing: Thaw at room temperature for 30 minutes before using.
Tips
Wrap immediately: Samosa sheets dry out fast. Keep them wrapped in a damp cloth while working.
Freezing: Stack the cut sheets, wrap them tightly in cling film or a Ziploc bag, and freeze. They last for 2-3 months.
