Have you ever wondered what a ranch burger crossed with a patty melt would taste like? Neither have I. How did i get here? Well, I took a vote in the household and ranch burger and patty melt were a tie. So, they got a little of both. Quick weeknight meal. #CookPadApron2026

Heat a large saute pan on medium low heat. Add 2 tbs butter and melt. Add the sliced onions and the seasonings. Caramelize the onions slowly. If they brown too much too quickly, turn the heat down. This could take 30 to 40 minutes. 5 minutes before they are done, add vinegar and deglaze the pan. Cook till all liquid reduces into a thick sauce.

Meanwhile, fry eggs in another pan. I fried them to over medium. Set aside.

In the same pan as the eggs, fry the burger patties. I made 1/3 lb patties. Season both sides with salt pepper and garlic powder while cooking.

When onions, eggs, and burgers are done, assemble sandwiches. I spread mayo on the bottom bread. Then onions, then 1 slice Swiss cheese. Then 1 egg and 4 slices of ham. Then 2 slices provolone. Then burger patty and 1 more slice of Swiss. Spread mustard on top slice of bread. Toast sandwiches in a buttered pan until browned and heated through. Serve with desired side. I did fries. Enjoy.
