Heat oil in a kadai. Add Rai seeds and let them splutter.

Than add Chana dal after that add the chopped onions and green chilies. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.

Now add chopped tomates and cook until they turn soft.

Add turmeric, red chili powder,, and salt. Mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes until the spices are fragrant. Than add the chopped potatoes.

Sauté for 2 minutes. Add 1.5–2 cups of water, cover, and simmer until the potatoes are fork-tender.

For a thicker gravy add the Besan mix and cook for 2 minutes.

The gravy will get slight thick.
