Baked Spaghetti

Baked Spaghetti! Thanks to Paula Deen for coming up with this one. This is perfect for a one pot family meal, or for a potluck. I made this on a Friday night a week ago, and we had it for a few meals LOL. Two adults and a 17mos old could not finish it off in one go! What I love is that it has my family favourites in this - mince and spaghetti. Loved watching the toddler demolish this :)This is a meal you need to have a lot of space for in your tummy ... so if you have big hungry eaters at home, they will love this!

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 180C/350F Combine the canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, onion, capiscum, garlic, parsley, italian seasoning, bay leaves and the water and bring it to a boil over high heat. Then let it simmer for about an hour.

  2. 2

Cook the ground meat in some olive until the meat is fully cooked. Drain the fat, and add the meat to the sauce pot, and continue to simmer for another 15-20mins. Season with salt and pepper.

  3. 3

In the mean time cook the spaghetti. Once it is done its time to get the dish together!

  4. 4

Cover the bottom of the baking pan (13x9) with the yummy sauce. Add a layer of pasta, followed by some grated cheese. Repeat the layers and end it with spreading some sauce on top. Bake for 30mins in the oven.

  5. 5

Add some cheese, and place it back in the oven so that the cheese is melted, should take about 5mins.

  6. 6

Cut into squares and serve! Add a salad to go with it, maybe some garlic bread... definitely a meal to please many!

Welcome to my Blog The Eaterspot. My blogging journey began in March 2010. I had just relocated from the US, and living in Wellington, New Zealand was definitely a whole lot different from the US. The day after I landed here, I began a full time job, but I still had a whole lot of free time after 5pm. I was cooking a lot of new dishes from various cuisines so the blog was born to document my cooking for my friends and family to follow what we are upto as a newly married couple and to see what we were eating! Thanks for visting my spot!
