Crème Brulee

Crème Brulee is one of my ALL time favourite desserts. I tried it at Bahama Breeze, a restaurant in Phoenix, AZ. From that time on, I have always ordered a Crème Brulee if it was on the menu and I have ignored the rest, no matter how good they were! There is a lovely dessert place here in the city, and they had CB on the menu. A few weeks after that Master Chef Australia's master class featured a Crème Brulee. When I realized it was easy to put together, I set my heart to making a CB in my kitchen. After a very long work week recently, I came home and began project Crème Brulee. I did not realise this creamy and delicious dessert was extremely EASY to put together
I made some for a picnic that we had planned for a Sunday afternoon. The weather wasn't the bestest for a picnic, so we had a picnic at home with some chicken spinach wraps, tuna cutlets, home made french fries, and home made lemonade. We finished it all with a Crème Brulee :)

Steps
- 1
Mix the cream and vanilla and bring to a boil over medium heat. Once it reaches scalding point, remove from the heat
- 2
While the cream and vanilla was boiling, I whisked the yolks and caster sugar for a few minutes until it became really creamy. Pour the cream mixture into the yolk mixture and whisk until it is well combined. Strain the mixture and pour into 4 ramekins
- 3
Preheat the oven to 120C. In a deep roasting pan, place a folded tea towel and carefully place the ramekins over the towel. Pour boiling water into the pan to come halfway up the sides of the ramekins. Cover the pan loosely with foil
- 4
Bake for 40minutes or until the custard is set. Remove the ramekins and set aside to cool. I then placed it in the fridge until it got cold
- 5
When it was time for dessert, I sprinkled the sugar over the baked custards and broiled until the sugar caramelised and formed a hard layer
- 6
Enjoy! :)
