Bread Pakoda - Delhi's favorite street breakfast :)

In winter and rainy seasons, every street in Delhi will have this staple breakfast which Delhiwalas would relish it so much. These slices of breads dipped in besan/chickpea flour batter spiced with ajwain/carom seeds, red chili powder, asafoetida, salt and deep fried. These can be stuffed with a filling of mashed potatoes which is very common, or one can be innovative in making the filling like paneer/cottage cheese filling, soya granules filling, cheese and even mashed green peas. And I made this with li'l twist :) ...

In a bowl mix chickpea flour, asafoetida, crushed garlic, chilli flakes, oregano and salt. Add water to it slowly and mix it to make a smooth and thick batter.

Slice the bread into rectangular shape. Meanwhile heat oil in a frying pan.

Dip the bread slices in the batter properly to cover it entirely with the batter and fry it on the medium heat. Fry both sides until light golden color and drain in paper towel. Serve hot with green chutney or tomato sauce :)....
