Ingredients

  • 1 cupmasoor dal whole -
  • 3 cupswater -
  • 1 tspcumin seeds -
  • 1 tspginger garlic paste -
  • 1onion , medium sized -
  • 2tomatoes -
  • 1green chili -
  • 1 tspturmeric powder -
  • 1/2 tspchili powder red -
  • 1/2 tspgaram masala -
  • 1 tspkasuri methi crushed -
  • 3 tspscream -
  • 2 tspsoil -
  • as requiredsalt

Steps

  1. 1

    Soak the mentils for 30-40 minutes.

  2. 2

    Heat oil for tempering. Fry the cumin first and add the onions.

  3. 3

    Now fry the onions till brown. Add the ginger garlic paste and fry for a minute.

  4. 4

    Add the tomatoes and green chilies and fry till the tomatoes become soft.

  5. 5

    Finally add all the dry powders, except garam masala and kasuri methi and mix well.

  6. 6

    Add the masoor dal to the tempering and add salt. Simmer the dal on a low or medium flame.

  7. 7

    Add the cream, garam masala and crushed kasuri methi and stir.

  8. 8

    Serve with basmati rice!
