Eggless Choco-Walnut Cake - Step by Step Recipe

I call this my ‘one-bowl’ choco-walnut cake…. No points for guessing here, it’s adding all the ingredients in one bowl, mixing and baking super simple!!
And guess what it’s eggless; I have simplified this further by posting step-by-step pictures so that you know it’s as easy as it looks and make it!

Here’s what I put in the cake
Steps
- 1
Take a large bowl, first sieve the flour (maida)
- 2
Next sieve the 1/4th cup cocoa powder in the same bowl
- 3
Next sieve the powdered sugar
- 4
This is after I have sieved the powdered sugar
- 5
Next add 1/2 tsp each of baking soda and baking powder
- 6
Then add 5 tbsp spoon of milk (room temperature)
- 7
Then add 5 tbsp of melted unsalted butter
- 8
Then add 6 tbsp of sour curd and mix well
- 9
Take the roughly chopped walnuts and dust them with 1-2 tsp of flour (maida) to remove any moisture, and add to the cake mix.
- 10
Add these to the cake mix
- 11
Add 1/2 tsp of vanilla essence and fold in, grease a 6 inch cake tin with butter.
- 12
In the mean time pre heat the oven to 180 degree celsius, pour the cake mix in the tray and bake for 20 -25 mins.
- 13
To check if the cake is baked, insert a clean knife or skewer in the middle of the cake, if it comes out clean means the cake is baked. If not bake for another 5 minutes. {*I have an LG microwave convection oven and the Choco- Walnut cake baked in exact 20 minutes.}
- 14
This is how it looks once out of the oven :)). let it cool for 20-30 minutes, then remove on a tray and cover it with chocolate icing... recipe given below with pictures :))
- 15
Icing - Once the cake is completely cooled, remove and place it on a plate, mix the icing sugar, cocoa powder and water together to a thick consistency.
- 16
Pour over the cake, I love that the cake has a few cracks, the icing just seeps in and makes this a rich moist cake which everyone will devour!
- 17
Cover the cake generously with chocolate icing! Top is with walnut and serve!
- 18
Or you can keep it in the fridge and serve later!!
