After grating the onion, squeeze out the juice and set the juice aside.

Season the kofta with the listed ingredients and shape into finger-sized logs.

Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Generously grease a baking dish with butter and arrange the kofta logs in it.

Add 1 cup hot water, the reserved onion juice, and whole cardamom pods. Bake in the center of the oven at 400°F (200°C) with both top and bottom heat.

Once the kofta is almost cooked (about 15 minutes), turn on the broiler to brown the tops for a few minutes.

Serve hot with salads and bread. Enjoy!
