Mix all the dough ingredients together, then divide into 12 pieces.

Dust each piece with cornstarch and roll them out, sprinkling cornstarch between each layer. Roll until very thin, then place them in a baking pan.

Brush each layer with clarified butter or ghee. Spread the cream filling in the center, then layer the remaining sheets on top, brushing each with butter.

Bake in the oven for 30 minutes until golden. Pour the syrup over the baklava while hot.
