My grandmother used to make this recipe! Very good, easy, quick, without many ingredients and cheap to make! It reminds me of her and it is one of my favorites...

Ingredients

about 40-45 rusks
  1. 1 cupnatural orange juice (250 ml used to measure the rest of the ingredients with)
  2. 1 cupoil (I use olive oil! If you want it lighter, you can use half a cup olive oil and half a cup of any other oil, e.g. sunflower oil or just some kind of any other oil! It's up to you...)
  3. 1 cupsugar (I usually use white sugar, if you want you can use any other kind of sugar with coarser granules, just pass it though a food processor so that it gets as fine as white sugar)
  4. About 1 packet of self-rising flour (500 g)

Steps

  1. 1

Place the orange juice, sugar and oil in a bowl and mix until the sugar dissolves.

  2. 2

Then add the flour and start mixing by hand! (It might need more flour, you will see as you go!) When it no longer sticks to your hand it is ready! But the dough should be a bit firm (a little as it happens with all the rusks!)

  3. 3

Take the dough and divide it into two halves.

  4. 4

Form two sticks and place them in a baking tray lined with greaseprof paper.

  5. 5

Using a knife cut into slices (but not all the way through to the bottom).

  6. 6

Place in the oven at 180°C until they get golden brown! When they do, break them into slices and use the fan in the oven to dry them a little (5 to 10 minutes in my oven, you should check how long it takes in yours)!
